Tokyo Steel increases scrap buying prices

On March 12, SteelOrbis reported that Tokyo Steel had announced an increase in H2 scrap purchase prices at its Tahara and Utsunomiya sites. With the increased H2 scrap purchase price for the two sites at JPY 37,500/mt delivered, the average price at the two sites increased to $352/mt delivered. The overall purchase price for all sites was estimated at $341-343/mt delivered.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that Tokyo Steel has increased its H2 scrap buying prices at Utsunomiya to JPY 37,500/mt while maintaining Tahara buying prices. The average scrap price at the two sites has increased JPY 250/mt to JPY 37,750/mt ($357/mt) delivered, for the two sites the price has increased by $5/mt. The dollar change is accentuated by the strength of the yen against the dollar. The average H2 purchase price by Tokyo Steel at all its sites is estimated at $347-349/mt delivered, up $6/mt.
