On February 6, SteelOrbis reported that Tokyo Steel had announced additional purchase price decreases as global scrap prices softened.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that Japan’s Tokyo Steel has recently announced an increase in scrap purchase prices at Tahara and Utsunomiya sites which may be followed by increases at the other sites. While the increase was of JPY 500/mt, due to a stronger domestic currency against the dollar, the average price in dollar terms has increased by $9/mt from early February prices.
