As deep sea scrap quotations in Turkey have increased at a fast pace, the short sea segment has followed suit with prices also moving up.
A gradual increase has been observed in ex-Romania and ex-Bulgaria HMS I/II 80:20 scrap prices and in the latest bookings from the region 5,500 mt of this scrap grade has been sold to Turkey’s Marmara region and to neighboring regions in the range of $310-312 CFR. The new price expectations from Romania and the Adriatic region stand at $315-320/mt CFR, following the ex-Baltic booking disclosed to the market with the HMS I/II 80:20 scrap price at $329/mt CFR. The transactions concluded at the end of last week were closed at $290/mt CFR Turkey.
Meanwhile, the level of $325-330/mt CFR is considered to be workable for Russian HMS I/II 90:10 scrap as sources expect offers from Russia to increase to $330/mt CFR Turkey and above.
For ex-Israel HMS I/II 75:25 scrap, suppliers’ offers are currently at around $300/mt CIF Iskenderun and this level is expected to gain acceptance, while the most recent ex-Israel deals were closed at $280-281/mt CIF Iskenderun around ten days ago.
