Scrap prices within the Ohio Valley / Western Pennsylvania region settled “mostly sideways” during this month’s buy cycle, although settled busheling scrap prices are a bit difficult to pinpoint. Whereas some mills in the region bought at sideways, others who already had prime grade scrap on hand, bought busheling scrap, in some cases, down at a significant discount from September settled levels. “It basically all depends on the mill you’re taking about,” a source said. “There really wasn’t any uniformity in terms of where busheling prices settled. Prices varied, in some cases, quite a bit depending on the mill that bought it.”
