According to sources, steel producers in the Central region of Russia have again increased their local scrap purchase prices, aiming to secure their needs while exporters compete with them for the raw material. “Export scrap availability is low and the US has not been giving any cargo. Therefore, exporters from the Baltic region are ready to pay good prices for scrap to local collectors,” a trader told SteelOrbis.

Since late last week, Russian mills in the Central region have increased their scrap purchase prices by $4-5/mt (RUB 500-600/mt) to $304-306/mt (RUB 22,400-22,500/mt) CPT. The prices are for scrap to be transported by railway.

Prices exclude 20 percent VAT.

$1 = RUB 73.63
