Domestic mills’ scrap purchase prices have been decreasing in Russia during the course of September. One of the reasons is the sufficient scrap collection volumes in the country seen in the past couple of weeks. Another one is the still uncertain situation as regards exports since Turkey has not been accepting any sizeable increase in its import pricing. Accordingly, exporters from Russia’s Baltic region, also taking into account the export tax, have been also aiming to decrease their local purchase prices.
Moreover, mills in Russia generally intend to continue dropping their purchase prices in the short term by another $7/mt (RUB 500/mt).
