In March this year, local French steel scrap prices have indicated just slight increases or decreases compared to February, according to the latest data issued by the French Steel Federation (FFA). Local scrap prices had fallen significantly in February compared to January, whereas in March prices of HMS II (E1C), HMS I (E3) and busheling (E8) decreased by less than €2/mt on average compared to February. Other scrap grades indicated month-on-month price increases in the range of €4-6/mt.
However, on year-on-year basis, in March local French scrap prices decreased by a significant €24/mt on average, as shown in the following table:
