In January this year, local French steel scrap prices increased by €8.7/mt ($10/mt) on average compared to December, according to the latest data issued by the French Steel Federation (FFA). The month-on-month increase follows the increase seen in December after the price decreases recorded in previous months.
On year-on-year basis, in January local French scrap prices decreased by a significant €72/mt ($79/mt) on average, as shown in the following table:
