According to market sources, Russian and Romanian A3 grade scrap offers to Turkey have remained unchanged over the past two weeks at $310-315/mt CFR. The latest deal from Romania to Turkey for A3 grade scrap was concluded at $310/mt CFR Marmara.
Market sources state that Turkish producers are willing to evaluate ex-Black Sea offers. On the other hand, according to the winter schedule applied for scrap shipments from the Black Sea region, only ships with the necessary certification are allowed to call on ports. This had increased the shortage of ship availability for scrap shipments. Market sources report that ship availability has not been an issue lately since ex-Black Sea deals concluded last month were for small tonnages. However, rivers in the region have started to freeze over due to harsh weather conditions, occasionally causing disruptions of scrap shipments.
