Japan’s Tokyo Steel lowers scrap buying prices

Since April, Japan’s Tokyo Steel scrap buying prices have been on a consistent decline. On May 9, SteelOrbis reported prices at the Okayama site at JPY 30,200/mt ($275/mt), the Tahara site at JPY 30,800/mt ($281/mt), and the Utsunomiya site at JPY 29,200/mt ($266/mt), all prices delivered to customer.

Currently, prices at the Okayama site are reportedly at JPY 28,800/mt ($265/mt), the Tahara site at JPY 29,800/mt ($275/mt), and the Utsunomiya site at JPY 29,300/mt ($270/mt), all prices delivered to customer. Compared to May 9, scrap buying prices decreased $10/mt at Okayama, decreased $6/mt at Tahara, and decreased $4/mt at Utsunomiya.
