Japan’s Tokyo Steel increases scrap buying prices again

On March 5, SteelOrbis reported H2 scrap buying prices at three of Japan’s Tokyo Steel sites: Okayama site was reportedly at JPY 32,000/mt ($286/mt), the Tahara site at JPY 34,500/mt ($308/mt), and the Utsunomiya site at JPY 35,250/mt ($315/mt), all prices delivered to customer.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that Tokyo Steel increased scrap steel prices again. The Okayama site is now reportedly at JPY 33,000/mt ($297/mt), the Tahara site at JPY 35,250/mt ($317/mt), and the Utsunomiya site at JPY 36,500-37,000/mt ($328-332/mt), all prices delivered to customer. Prices increased by $11/mt at Okayama, $9/mt at Tahara, and $13-17/mt at Utsunomiya.
