Japanese H2 scrap trends stable

On January 14, SteelOrbis reported domestic H2 scrap prices in Japan at mini-mills in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya at JPY 29,900-30,100/mt ($276-278/mt) delivered to customer. Shindachi scrap was reported at JPY 35,000-35,300/mt ($323-326/mt) delivered to customer.

After the most recent mid-week survey of scrap buyers and sellers, SteelOrbis has been informed that domestic H2 scrap prices in Japan at mini-mills in the regions mentioned above continue stable at JPY 29,900-30,100/mt ($275-277/mt) delivered to customer. Shindachi scrap was reported at JPY 35,000-35,300/mt ($322-325/mt) delivered to customer. Both grades decreased $1/mt on currency fluctuations. A source shared that given the various positive signs in the market over the week, domestic H2 prices in Japan may begin to firm up.
