On March 30, SteelOrbis reported ex-US containerized HMS I/II 80:20 scrap deals down to $340-344/mt CFR Taiwan with no significant volume sold over the week. Ex-US HMS I/II 80:20 offers were reportedly at $345-350/mt CFR.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that due to holidays in Taiwan, no scrap trades were reportedly concluded in the week. Due to the lack of inquiries and overall market uncertainty including how US domestic scrap would trade, ex-US offers for HMS I/II 80:20 remained at $345/mt CFR, down $5/mt from the top of the previous range. Negotiations are expected next week, and a source noted that “bids and deals may be slightly lower than $340-344/mt CFR Taiwan since their domestic rebar market is also facing some weakness and Turkish scrap import buys from the US are not expected.”
