Over the past month, ex-CIS pig iron offers to Italy have increased by $30/mt on the lower end and by $15/mt on the upper end to $330-335/mt CIF, supported by the uptrend of global scrap prices. However, demand for ex-CIS pig iron in Italy is still weak. Market sources think that pig iron prices in the Italian market will not soften in the short term amid the ongoing strength of commodity prices.
