Slight increase in ex-CIS pig iron offer prices for Italian market

SteelOrbis has learned that the ex-CIS pig iron offers to the Italian market have increased by $10/mt to the range of $200-210/mt CFR for March deliveries.

In February, ex-Black Sea pig iron arrivals at Italian ports amounted to 60,000 metric tons, compared to the peak of 167,000 metric tons recorded in December. In the meantime, stocks remain quite high both at ports and at mills’ warehouses. Most market players think that the price increase registered in offers for the Italian market is due to the unexpected strength of increases in raw material prices and not due to better demand.
