Ex-US scrap offers to Taiwan trend down

On July 13, SteelOrbis reported ex-US containerized HMS I/II 80:20 scrap offers at $340-350/mt CFR with deals over the week at $335-340/mt CFR.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that with the downtrend of finished steel prices in Asia, especially evident with aggressively lower bids from Indian buyers of HRC, for example, along with softness in the domestic Taiwan, South Korean, and Vietnam steel markets plus lower Turkish scrap buying prices, import HMS I/II 80:20 scrap deals in Taiwan have also trended lower by $5/mt to $330-335/mt CFR. A source noted that given the market uncertainty, ex-US containerized HMS I/II 80:20 scrap offers are presently wide at $332-340/mt CFR, down $8-10/mt compared to a week ago.
