Domestic scrap prices in Italy move sideways

Prices in the Italian scrap market are still in the process of settling for the current month, also on account of the recent holidays, but scrap traders questioned by SteelOrbis have reported stable prices in the monthly supply contracts they have concluded so far. The same traders hope for a slight increase in the price of shredded scrap, thanks to reduced availability of this material, but, on the other hand, domestic steel mills do not seem willing to accept prices above €315/mt ($378/mt) delivered. Scrap demand does not seem particularly good, with most steel mills not in a hurry to buy at the moment. According to the traders interviewed, the situation in the market will be clearer starting from next week.
