Deep sea scrap prices have hit a new high in Turkey in a deal from the Baltic region disclosed to the market late last night. A buyer from the Iskenderun region has purchased 16,500 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 at $285/mt CFR, 5,000 mt of shredded at $290/mt CFR and 1,500 mt of bonus grade at $295/mt CFR, SteelOrbis has learned. The cargo will be shipped in September. The previous highest HMS I/II 80:20 level fixed to Turkey was $283/mt CFR from Finland, as reported previously.

Most expectations in the market remain positive and market players foresee that the tradable value for HMS I/II 80:20 deep sea scrap will move to $285-290/mt CFR in the coming deals for premium origins.
