US import wire rod market steady week-on-week

The US import wire rod market has remained steady week-on-week, with sources reporting little to no inquiry activity due to uncertainty regarding the Section 232 investigation. While traders in other steel segments, including flat products, are starting to return to the import market while waiting for the investigation results, the US import wire rod market has remained quiet.

Until the market direction is clear, import offer prices are expected to remain stagnant. The last heard Turkish offers of imported wire rod in the US domestic market remain at $23.50-$24.50 cwt. ($470-$490/nt or $517-$540/mt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports.
