US import rebar prices increased again in the last week as sources say the US rebar market in general is “very strong.” US domestic rebar prices are trending up, and with perspectives that prices will remain high in the near term, import offers are rising as well—although sources point out the uptick in prices has more to do with “what importers think they can get” from US buyers rather than higher quotes from the foreign mill side.

As such, offers from Turkey are now in the range of $37.50-$39.50 cwt. ($827-$871/mt or $750-$770/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, up $0.50 cwt. ($11/mt or $10/nt) from last week. Offers from Mexico are now at $36.50-$37.50 cwt. ($805-$827/mt or $730-$750/nt) DDP Houston, up $0.50 cwt. ($11/mt or $10/nt) from last week.
