US import rebar prices are still trending at low prices, and although offers have remained mostly stable over the last week, sources say the still-wide margin between imports and domestic rebar still isn’t spurring buyers to the import market.

Sources also tell SteelOrbis that some buyers who aren’t as hesitant about booking future arrivals are being “lured” by US mills with “foreign fighter” deals, further hampering activity in the import rebar market. As such, offers prices are stable week-on-week, at $41.00-$42.00 cwt. ($904-$926/mt or $820-$840/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, while offers from Mexico are still at $45.00-$46.00 cwt. ($992-$1,104/mt or $900-$920/nt) DDP Houston.
