Despite continual low interest in the US import rebar market, offer prices from some regions have reversed course and are starting to rise slightly. The uptick is due to both rising FOB prices on the offshore mill end, plus rising freight rates, which has driven up import rebar offers from Algeria and Egypt by around $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt) in the last week.

Offers from those regions are now around $36.50-$37.50 cwt. ($805-$827/mt or $730-$750/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, however offers from Mexico have not changed week-on-week, still trending at around $39.00-$40.00 cwt. ($860-$882/mt or $780-$800/nt) DDP Houston.
