Today, March 22, rebar spot prices in Turkey have been severely hit by the sharp loss of value of the Turkish lira. Although traders have increased their offers by $280-350/mt, the US dollar equivalent of the rebar spot prices has still lost $11-19/mt. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are now at TRY 5,600-5,670/mt or $603-611/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region. Taking into account such developments, rebar demand in Turkey has stalled.
Most mills in the Marmara region have opened their rebar sales at $620-630/mt ex-works at the current exchange rate.
In the Izmir region, most mills are currently offering rebar at $615-620/mt ex-works, with prices still quoted on US dollar basis at the current exchange rate.
In the Iskenderun region, Bastug A.S. has opened its rebar sales after a long break, at $620/mt ex-works at the current exchange rate.
In the Samsun region, Yesilyurt A.S. has opened its rebar sales at $625/mt ex-works at the current exchange rate.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
