Turkish domestic rebar spot prices follow diverse trends

Today, March 15, spot prices in the Turkish domestic rebar market have decreased by TRY 80-120/mt ($16-18/mt) in the Izmir and Iskenderun regions, while rising by TRY 20/mt in the Marmara region, amid currency fluctuations and the silence in the market, with just minor changes seen in prices on US dollar basis compared to Thursday, March 11. The rebar spot prices in the Karabuk region have remained unchanged over the same period. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are now at TRY 5,450-5,600/mt or $613-629/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.

The general rebar price range in the Marmara and Izmir regions has remained unchanged at $640-655/mt ex-works, with prices still quoted on US dollar basis at the current exchange rate.

In the Samsun region, Yesilyurt A.S. has opened its rebar sales at TRY 5,750/mt ex-works ($646/mt) ex-works.

Some market players are in wait-and-see mode due to the silence in the import scrap segment and quiet demand. Some say that trading activity is livelier in the Marmara and Iskenderun regions, though no sales have been confirmed by the time of publication.

As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
