Today, December 8, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have decreased further by TRY 50-120/mt ($5-10/mt), against the backdrop of currency fluctuations and slow trading activity. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 11,500-11,600/mt or $711-717/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Most suppliers are currently offering rebar at $730-750/mt ex-works, while additional discounts of $10-15/mt are applicable only for serious buyers. Sources report a small tonnage of rebar has been traded at around $715/mt ex-works/ex-warehouse today. The general sentiment on the demand side is negative amid the winter season and rapid currency fluctuations. A few local traders are waiting for Turkish Central Bank’s interest rate decision due on Thursday, December 16, before restocking.
