Local Turkish official merchant bar prices have risen by another TRY 290-390/mt ($15-20/mt) compared to Tuesday, December 27 amid currency fluctuations and expected higher energy costs, import scrap prices and higher billet prices. One Iskenderun-based mill has increased its merchant bar list prices by $10/mt to $715/mt ex-works today.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for January delivery and only limited tonnages are available from stocks. A few re-rollers are offering official HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) offers at $930/mt versus $900-920/mt ex-works, over the same period.
