Prices for imported billet in Taiwan have continued to gradually going down and the major buyers’ focus is still on ex-Russia purchases due to lower prices compared to other origins, SteelObris has learned from the market on May 19.

A number of deals for 3SP billet have been signed at $510-520/mt CFR Taiwan this week with some volumes being from traders for open origin, while most of the volumes have been from the major Russian mill, which has limited options in sales to other markets. The deal price level was $520-525/mt CFR in Taiwan two weeks ago.

The majority of offers for ex-ASEAN billet from traders have been at only $525/mt CFR Taiwan, making Russian material more attractive in terms of prices.

In addition, Ex-Iran offers have been hardly below $520/mt CFR in Asia.
