Domestic rebar prices in Turkey have declined since February 20 due to the strengthening of the Turkish lira against the US dollar. Meanwhile, trading activity in the local Turkish rebar market is still as quiet as it was at the beginning of the current week. Despite the ongoing upward movement of import scrap quotations, the change recorded in the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate has caused Turkish traders to reduce their rebar offers to their domestic market by TRY 10-30/mt compared to price levels recorded on February 20. For the same reason, buyers in the local Turkish rebar market have postponed their rebar purchases and demand in the market is still weak.
