Spanish longs market impacted by sluggish construction and soft scrap prices

According to market sources, rebar and wire rod offers in the local Spanish market are currently at €435/mt ($539/mt) DDP, excluding 21 percent VAT. Additionally, Spanish rebar offers to the export markets are in the range of €410-420/mt ($508-521/mt) FOB, while ex-Spain wire rod offers are now at €425-435/mt ($527-539/mt) FOB.

Weak activity in the Spanish construction sector has impacted negatively on domestic rebar and wire rod demand, while it is also difficult for price levels to increase amid declining scrap offers.
