As US rebar buyers continue sticking with domestics for most orders, some import offers for future arrival have reportedly become more flexible in order to attract buyers. Offers from Mexico, where lead times are much shorter than for overseas product, prices are ranging from $27.00-$28.00 cwt. ($595-$617/mt or $540-$560/nt) DDP Houston, reflecting a decrease of $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt) in the last week.

However, import rebar offers from Turkey are still trending relatively stable, as higher scrap prices in Turkey have raised export rebar offers, but buyers in the US are not willing to pay more for material that won’t arrive until later in the quarter. As such, the last-heard offer prices for US import rebar from Turkey are still in effect, at $27.50-$28.50 cwt. ($606-$628/mt or $550-$570/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports.
