Romanian buyers are evaluating rebar offers in order to make new purchases this week. Local demand in Romania remains moderate.

Offers are mainly coming from neighboring countries, with prices increased over the past two weeks. In particular, Hungary and Bulgaria were in the market with €495/mt and €530/mt CPT Cluj for in early January. However, fresh offers are reported at €502/mt CPT from Hungary and at €540-560/mt CPT from Bulgaria.

Local Romanian producers’ rebar prices are currently standing at around €600/mt delivered to Bucharest, excluding 19 percent VAT. Moreover, a few importers are offering rebar from ports at €550/mt loaded on truck, SteelOrbis has heard. In addition, current ex-Turkey rebar offers are available at $650 (€538/mt) FOB, with the average freight rate to Romania at around $15/mt (€12-13/mt), SteelOrbis estimates.
