During the past week, demand in the local Turkish wire rod market has remained unchanged and is still at low levels. The upward movement of import scrap prices in Turkey since the beginning of last week and the slight revival seen in rebar demand; together with the Turkish lira losing strength against the US dollar have positively influenced finished steel prices in the Turkish domestic market. Despite the weak demand, Turkish wire rod producers have slightly increased their domestic offers this week with the support of the rises seen both in raw material and domestic rebar quotations.
