Over the past month, longs prices in the local Bulgarian market have followed diverse trends. Rebar and wire rod offers have seen only minor changes both on Bulgarian leva and euro basis amid sustained trading activity, while beams prices have fallen significantly due to aggressive import prices. Most Bulgarian buyers are in wait-and-see mode ahead of the Bulgarian parliamentary election on April 2.
A few Turkish merchant bar export offers are at $800-850/mt (€756-803/mt) FOB, while ex-Poland merchant bar offers are at €860-920/mt CPT. In addition, ex-Italy merchant bar prices are standing at €830-900/mt FOB. Turkish beam export prices are at €1,000-1,100/mt CPT depending on size and quality, rising by €50-80/mt. Ex-Spain beam prices are at €900-1,000/mt, versus €920-930/mt CPT a month ago, while ex-Italy offers are standing at €930-1,030/mt CIF. All import offers are for March-April shipment/delivery.
Currently, ex-Turkey rebar offers are standing at around $740/mt (€700/mt) FOB, versus $700/mt FOB (€655/mt) a month ago. In addition, ex-Turkey wire rod offers are available at around $760-770/mt FOB (€720-725/mt), versus $710/mt FOB (€665/mt). "Local Bulgarian buyers are exerting pressure for additional discounts, but Turkish longs export offers have increased sharply in line with the strong local demand," one source mentioned.
