Mexican domestic rebar prices remained at the level of US$691/mt ex-mill during the last two weeks, showing no significant change.

While those weeks were marked with very low ordering levels, construction industry sources tell SteelOrbis that 2014 will be a year of great opportunity for their sector, both public and private, and Mexico will soon be among the top 20 countries in the world for competitiveness in infrastructure.

For example, they enumerated major urban infrastructure projects that will develop in the Mexico City and metropolitan regions: Metrobus, which will require 200 kilometers of new lines; the Transfer Center of Bullfighting; completion of the Great Model of Mexico City; improvement of basic roads; more urban bikeways; updated DF Risk Atlas; and Presidente Masaryk Avenue, a new urban corridor.
