Local Turkish wire rod prices weaken

Most Turkish wire rod producers have decreased their official domestic offers mainly by $5/mt over the past week, though in the Iskenderun region the decline has been a bit more sizeable. Sources report that special discounts are available for serious buyers. Although Iskenderun-based mills have longer lead times, most wire rod buyers are in wait-and-see mode due to concerns over the coronavirus in Turkey and currency fluctuations.

Local mill Kardemir is currently offering 6-28 mm SAE 1008-1010 wire rod at TRY 2,870/mt ($468/mt) ex-works, which is within the general price range of $460-475/mt ex-works in Turkey for 6-7 mm wire rod.
