Local Turkish rebar spot prices increase significantly

Local Turkish rebar spot prices have increased by TRY 25-34/mt since yesterday, December 4.  Traders have started restocking as they assume import scrap prices will continue to increase. SteelOrbis has heard that, accordingly, some mills in Turkey’s İzmir region have sold approximately 14,000-15,000 mt of rebar and that some mills in the Marmara region have concluded deals for approximately 3,000-4,000 rebar and have closed their rebar sales.

Turkish mill Icdas has opened sales for 12-32 mm rebar earlier today, December 5, at TRY 2,508/mt ($436/mt) ex-works and closed its sales in the afternoon. Meanwhile, Izmir Demir Celik (IDC) has increased its 12-32 mm rebar prices by TRY 42/mt to TRY 2,585/mt ($450 mt) ex-works. Prices mentioned exclude VAT. Additionally, SteelOrbis has heard that Turkish mill Kardemir has sold approximately 40,000 mt of rebar since December 3 at TRY 2,495/mt ($434/mt) ex-works, excluding VAT.
