Local Turkish rebar spot prices follow diverse trends

Today, September 6, in the local currency Turkish domestic rebar spot prices in the Marmara region have increased by TRY 20/mt in the local currency, rebar spot prices in the Izmir region have remained unchanged, while rebar spot prices in the Iskenderun and Karabuk regions have decreased by TRY 20/mt with just minor changes on US dollar basis, compared to Thursday, September 2. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 6,440-6,520/mt or $659-667/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.

Most mills in the Marmara and Izmir regions are currently offering rebar at $655-670/mt ex-works today.

Sentiment among most local traders is negative as Turkish construction contractors have announced that they will halt construction works across the country for 15 days as of September 9.

All prices are ex-warehouse and on actual weight basis. Prices on Turkish lira basis include 18 percent VAT, while prices on US dollar basis exclude VAT.
