Turkish mills in the Marmara region have cut its local wire rod price by another $27,5/mt amid sluggish local demand and rapid currency fluctuations. Icdas has kept its official wire rod price at $740/mt ex-works today. An Iskenderun-based mill has also issued its wire rod price at $720/mt ex-works today. Most suppliers are offering April material, while a limited tonnage is available from stocks.
Sources report most local buyers are exerting pressure for further discounts as the wire rod export segment is also sluggish. A few mills are applying aggressive pricing policies and giving sizeable discounts, SteelOrbis has heard.
