Demand in the Polish rebar market has remained low and prices have decreased slightly over the past two weeks. Domestic rebar prices have decreased by PLN 20-50/mt (€4-11/mt) to PLN 1,920-2,000/mt (€427-445/mt) ex-works. Stocks have been filled sufficiently by now and buyers have exerted pressure on prices due to the insufficient number of new projects. "New projects are insufficient and we see a slowdown in the market after a lively restocking period. Buyers want to buy at lower levels but scrap prices are still strong and increasing. Also, import prices are high at the moment. We do not expect sharp declines due to low demand in this current situation, but small discounts are still possible for real buyers and big tonnages," a trader told SteelOrbis.
On the import side, prices are stable and are still unattractive. Italy is offering at €440-450/mt CPT, while offers from Germany are at €450-460/mt CPT for December deliveries. Also, Russian and Moldovian offers have been heard in the market in the last two weeks at €440-450/mt CPT for December shipments and at €430-450/mt CPT for January deliveries.
Prices exclude 23 percent VAT.
