Demand in the local Turkish rebar market has made a sluggish start to the current week. Turkish rebar producers’ costs have risen significantly as a result of higher domestic billet quotations following the increases recorded in import scrap prices over the past weeks. As a result, Turkish rebar mills have raised their domestic offers. Accordingly, domestic rebar quotations in Turkey have moved up by TRY 50-93/mt since SteelOrbis’ report published on January 31. Additionally, market sources state that in Turkey’s Iskenderun region there is shortage observed for some dimensions due to lower production capacity rates.
