Chinese domestic steel section prices have indicated slight fluctuations during the past week.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market have slightly reduced during the past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 mm x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 3,380/mt ($474/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 3,400/mt ($477/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,480/mt ($488/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
Overall trading activity in the local Chinese steel section market has been slack in the past week. With raw material futures prices rising at the end of last week, both billet prices and steel section prices followed the upward trend as well. But the demand side has been impacted by the high prices and the rainy weather in certain parts of the country, and so most traders have chosen to keep their prices stable. Supply volumes are still at high levels. As for the week ahead, it is believed that local steel section prices may again just indicate slight fluctuations.
