Pricing for US import 0.012”x40.875” G30 HDG coil from the UAE, South Africa and Vietnam have remained stable week-over week; trader sources continue to report having some problems getting customers to “psychologically” accept higher prices, especially since the average US transaction price for imported 0.012”x40.875” G30 HDG coil was trending between $45-$47 cwt. ($992-$1036/mt or $900-$940/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports, during the first week of January.
“It’s a hard pill for people to swallow, but since the [domestic mills] aren’t really interested in making 012 G30, this is just the new normal,” a trader source said.
