Futures offer prices for
US import hot dipped
galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume coil may have become increasingly aggressive, but sources close to SteelOrbis say many
US-based buyers are wary of booking tons offshore due to recent downticks in domestic spot market pricing.
Yesterday, SteelOrbis reported that the average transaction range for
US domestic 0.012”x40.875” G30 coil had softened by $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt) on the low end, bringing the current average transaction range to $46-$48 cwt. ($1014-$1058/mt or $920-$960/nt), ex-Midwest mill.
Trader sources say they’ve heard offshore offer prices for
US import 0.012”x40.875” G30 coil from South Africa, Thailand, India, Pakistan and the United Arab Emrates is being heard “at anywhere between $40-$42 cwt.” Price converted, that translates to $882-$923/mt or $800-$840/nt, all offers DDP loaded truck in
US Gulf coast ports.
US import Galvalume coil offer prices, for the grade 0.019x41.5625 Gr80/AZ55 from Korea and Taiwan are being heard at $41-$43 cwt. ($904-$948/mt or $820-$860/nt), DDP loaded truck in
US Gulf coast ports; Vietnamese offer prices to the
US for this same grade are being heard at $38-$40 cwt. ($838-$882/mt or $760-$800/nt), DDP loaded truck in
US Gulf coast port.
In comparison,
US domestic spot market pricing for Galvalume coil grade 0.019x41.5625 Gr80/AZ55 is trending in the approximate range of $45-$46 cwt. ($882-$1014/mt or $900-$920/nt), ex-Midwest mill. The current range denotes a $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt) price softening from levels heard one week prior.
