The most commonly heard spot price transaction range for US domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) coil has remained stable in the past week after a $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt) price softening that was seen during the last week in July.

Market conditions have been stable in the past seven days, sources note, adding that prices, activity and lead times have remained the same. Current lead times are holding between six and seven weeks. Buyers continue to remain wary as many believe the market is due for a correction due to what buyers are referring to as “unsustainable price points.”
