US HDG, Galvalume coil prices shift course

US domestic HDG and Galvalume coil prices had been mostly stagnant since mid-September, but the weeks-long trend has finally subsided. Last week, the average spot market price for all coted steel products, including specialty grades, began to turn downward. The price-softening within the coated steel market isn’t an anomaly, sources note, adding that HRC prices have been softening for several weeks. The big questions, however, are whether the downtrend will continue, and if so, whether any future revisions will be measured or swift.
