Sources close to SteelOrbis have confirmed that spot market prices for US domestic HDG and Galvalume coil are “mostly steady” week-over-week, at approximately $54.50-$56.50 cwt. ($1,202-$1,245/mt or $1,090-$1,130/nt), FOB mill. Sources have also indicated that while the most commonly heard spot market price range is unchanged, deals below this range are available for larger-sized orders.

Lead times, on the other hand, have extended slightly in the past seven days, from an average of 6-7 weeks to 7-8 weeks.

Some have speculated that lead times may have trended out because buyers have begun to restock their inventories. On the other hand, no one polled thinks that any significant restocking is taking place at these levels, adding that concerns of inventory devaluation are “still alive and well throughout the industry.”
