Over the past week, demand in the local Turkish hot rolled coil (HRC) spot market has remained weak, while this situation is not expected to improve in the short term. In the same period, domestic HRC prices have declined by $5/mt, while hot rolled pickled and oiled coil (HR P&O) prices have decreased by $10/mt.
Meanwhile, Turkish producers' HRC prices have also remained unchanged in the given period at $310-320/mt ex-works for March production. Even though Turkish producers have continued to offer volume discounts, depending on buyer and tonnage, their discount margins have been on the small side. Turkish buyers are in no rush to conclude new HRC purchases. They first want to see CIS-based suppliers' new HRC offers next week, which are expected to be announced after Chinese suppliers issue new HRC quotations following the end of the Chinese New Year holiday on February 14.
The domestic sales prices of traders for local and imported hot rolled flat steel products in the Eregli and Gebze regions of Turkey are as follows:
Product | Price ($/mt) | |
Eregli | Gebze | |
2-12 mm HRC | 335-345 | 340-350 |
1.5 mm HRS | 375-385 | 370-380 |
2-12 mm HRC (for large tonnages) | 325-335 | |
3-12 mm HR P&O | 370-380 | 385-390 |
The above prices are ex-warehouse and for advance payments, exclusive of 18 percent VAT.
