During the week ending July 28, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in the Chinese domestic market have edged up slightly for thick specifications, though remaining stable for thin specifications, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been at medium levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the table below.
During the given week, ferrous metals futures prices in China have moved sideways at relatively high levels, providing support for the PPGI market. PPGI producers have booked decent order volumes, though profitability for PPGI products is limited and so suppliers have been unwilling to lower their sales prices. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will move sideways in the coming week.
