Although it’s believed that US domestic HDG prices are stable after last week’s downward shift, sources close to SteelOrbis say that the true market price is “hard to say.”
“The price is dictated by who you are and what you’re looking to buy,” a source said. “There is no average price right now. The coronavirus has turned the entire industry on its head.”
It’s further believed that once scrap settles in April, that HDG prices could turn downward. Earlier today, SteelOrbis reported that it’s now believed that domestic scrap prices could fall by as much as $50-$70/gt ($51-$71/mt) during next month’s buy cycle.
