During the week ending August 2, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in the Chinese domestic market have moved upwards, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, PPGI prices in China have edged up due to tight supply in the PPGI market. However, demand has remained slack due to the very hot weather conditions, though market players expect to see better demand in the near future as August is a transitional period during which the finished steel market moves from the offseason towards the peak season. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.
